Equal Credit Opportunity Act

The Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), which was enacted on October 28, 1974, rules it unlawful for creditors to discriminate against applications based on the race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, age of a person or because they receive public assistance.
