What's a Security Code?

This is a 3- or 4-digit number that's typically printed on the back of a credit card, on the right-hand side, but is not part of the credit card number itself. The security code is only printed on the card and is not contained in the magnetic strip information nor does it appear on sales receipts or billing statements — you must have the card in your possession in order to use this code. When you give your Card Security Code to us, you help verify that you are the card holder.

Where Can I Find My Security Code?

For Visa, MasterCard, and Discover:

Flip your card over and look at the signature box. You should see either the entire 16-digit credit card number or just the last four digits followed by a special 3-digit code. This 3-digit code is your Card Security Code.

For American Express:

Look for the 4-digit code printed on the front of your card just above and to the right of your main credit card number. This 4-digit code is your Card Security Code.
